As shows continue to return, we’ve known the hybrid model would be one of the “obvious” ways artists would approach monetized video, and Gaelic Storm took a smart, D2C friendly approach during their recent “Back To The Pub” two night run at Emerald Isle in Chicago on August 4-5. Along with limited in person tickets (which sold out!), the band offered a livestream component for fans around the country to enjoy from the comfort of their own homes:

After that, it’s as easy as letting the band do what they do best with the cameras rolling for those at home:


Along with the built in fan chat for those around the globe to interact during the show, hosting the stream directly within their own web store allowed the band to control their branding, keep the merch prominently featured directly below the show player and, maybe most importantly, own their purchase data.
